SILENT TONGUES is a work of art exposing a world of beautiful images and symbols which reveal and express the journey towards inner truth. It is a rich tapestry of sound and images which are bound together by texts from some of the oldest teachings in the world , the Vedas , the Upanishads and the Bhagavadad Gita.
SILENT TONGUES is a poetic and spiritual journey through India featuring her ancient and devotional practices , especially those of the Sadhus and the Yogis. For thousand of years, Indian society has recognised and valued the need for the individual to satisfy the desire for union with the divine. The divine spirit is worshipped in many extraordinary forms and the path to the spiritual gaol is many and varied, often intense and profound , sometimes dangerously extreme.
SILENT TONGUES was shot and assembled over a period of fourteen years . Panni lived in idia and embarked on many pilgrimages from the caves in the remote areas of the Himalayas to the banks of the river Ganges and plains of southern India.The film reflects her personally deep relationship to the spiritual way of life and to the yogis whom she lived with for many years.
